Quick answer
Wiremi is a Canadian fintech building portable financial identity. The platform turns ROSCA contributions, savings, and money habits into a verifiable Credit Passport that travels across borders. Built in Toronto, regulated by FINTRAC and the Bank of Canada, live on iOS and Google Play.
Who is Wiremi for?
Wiremi is built for newcomers to Canada and the US who arrive with no domestic credit history. It's also for diaspora communities already participating in informal savings circles like Njangi, Ajo, Susu, Chama, sou-sou, paluwagan, kameti, tanda, and hui. And it's for anyone with a thin credit file: students, returning expats, immigrants from countries with different credit systems.
If a bank or landlord has ever told you that you don't have enough Canadian credit history to qualify for something basic, Wiremi was built with you in mind.
What does Wiremi do today?
The Wiremi app is live on the iOS App Store and Google Play. Inside, you'll find:
- The Credit Passport, which captures your real financial behavior into a portable profile that proves you're trustworthy with money. Learn more
- Group Savings, which digitalizes traditional rotating savings groups with escrow protection and automated rotation. Learn more
- Multi-rail money movement across 141 countries and 90+ currencies. Africa corridors are fully transactional today.
- AI-powered financial coaching that learns from your activity and recommends next steps. Available on the Premium tier.
What's launching soon?
Two things aren't live yet, and we won't pretend otherwise.
Canadian and US funding rails (deposits and withdrawals in CAD or USD) are launching in Q3 2026. Until then, North American users can download the app, sign up, subscribe, and explore the product, but they cannot yet fund a wallet.
Bureau reporting to Equifax and TransUnion isn't live either. Wiremi is in early conversations with major Canadian credit bureaus. We're building direct relationships rather than routing through third-party intermediaries. When the pilot launches, your Wiremi activity will count toward your traditional credit score.
Is Wiremi regulated?
Yes. Wiremi is registered in Canada with FINTRAC as a Money Services Business (MSB #M23401666). It's also registered with the Bank of Canada under the Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA #RPS0002269). Every dollar on the platform follows Canadian financial services rules. See our compliance page
How is Wiremi different from a remittance app?
Wiremi sends money, but that isn't the core product. The core product is portable financial identity. Sending money is one of many activities that build your Credit Passport. Other platforms move money. Wiremi turns the act of moving money into proof of your financial trustworthiness.
Who built Wiremi?
Wiremi was founded in Toronto by Mike Obi and Berkley Ngalla. Both are immigrants who experienced firsthand what it's like to arrive in a new country and watch years of financial discipline get erased at the border. Read the story
