TORONTO, February 12, 2026 — Wiremi, a Canadian fintech building portable financial identity for newcomers and the global diaspora, today formally introduced its Credit Passport platform. The launch confirms Wiremi's full registration with FINTRAC as a Money Services Business and with the Bank of Canada under the new Retail Payment Activities Act.

Wiremi addresses a problem that affects millions of Canadians directly. Newcomers, immigrants, and globally mobile professionals arrive in Canada with years or decades of financial discipline that traditional credit systems cannot recognize. The Wiremi Credit Passport captures real financial behavior across rent payments, savings, contributions to community savings groups, and recurring expenses into a portable profile that travels with the user across borders.

"Most Canadians I know have spent years proving they are financially responsible in ways no credit bureau ever saw," said Mike Obi, Co-Founder of Wiremi. "Wiremi is the infrastructure layer that finally captures that proof. The Credit Passport is the asset newcomers should have had from day one."

The Wiremi app is live on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Features include the Credit Passport with the Wiremi Pulse score, Group Savings for digital rotating savings circles (Njangi, Ajo, Susu, Chama, sou-sou, paluwagan), multi-currency money movement across 141 countries, and AI-driven financial coaching for Premium subscribers.

Wiremi's regulatory standing reflects the company's institutional posture. The Bank of Canada's Retail Payment Activities Act came into force to oversee Canadian payment service providers, and Wiremi joined the public register as part of the rollout. The FINTRAC registration covers Wiremi's anti-money-laundering and Know Your Customer obligations.

Canadian funding rails are scheduled to launch in Q3 2026. Users in Canada and the United States can already download the app, create an account, subscribe, and explore the Credit Passport experience. Active funding corridors today serve users across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Cameroon, and the XOF region.
